Member Invitation Guide

- An existing team in SplitSecure
- Web Companion paired with mobile app
- New members with SplitSecure mobile app installed
Start Invitation
1 Generate Invitation Code
When you click Invite:
- An invitation lobby is created
- A QR code is displayed for new members to scan
Tip
The invitation process is similar to team formation, but only new members need to scan the code. Existing members don't need to rejoin.
Add New Members
1 Have New Members Scan
For each new member:
- They open the SplitSecure app on their iOS device
- They tap the scan button
- They point their camera at the QR code on your screen
Alternatively, share the lobby code verbally if they can’t see your screen.
2 Verify and Include Members
As new members join:
- Their devices appear in the members table
- Toggle the switch to include them in the invitation
- Enter their email address for identification
Click Next when all new members have been added.
Review and Confirm
1 Review Invitation Details
The review page shows:
- New members being added
- Their email addresses
- Share allocations for each new member
Verify all information is correct.
2 Submit for Approval
- Click Confirm to submit the invitation
- A threshold proposal is created
- Existing team members must approve the invitation
Warning
Adding new members requires approval from existing team members. The number of approvals needed depends on your team's threshold configuration.
3 Wait for Threshold Approval
The progress page shows:
- Which existing members have approved
- Which are still pending
- Overall invitation status
Once the required threshold is reached, new members receive their shares.
New Member Acceptance
1 Notification Received
After approval, each new member:
- Receives a notification on their mobile device
- Opens the SplitSecure app
- Reviews the team invitation details
2 Accept Membership
New members complete joining by:
- Reviewing the team they’re joining
- Tapping Accept to confirm
- Receiving their threshold shares
Once accepted, they appear as full team members.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| New member’s device doesn’t appear | QR code not scanned correctly | Have them try scanning again |
| Invitation stuck at “Waiting for approval” | Existing members haven’t approved | Contact existing members to approve on their devices |
| “Insufficient threshold” error | Not enough members available to approve | Ensure enough existing members are available to meet threshold |
