What is the Web Companion?
1 Overview
The Web Companion is a browser-based interface for SplitSecure. It works in conjunction with your mobile app to provide a full-screen interface for configuration and resource access.
Key Points:
- Access it at companion.splitsecure.com
- Requires pairing with your mobile app (covered in the next guide)
- Used for configuration and resource access
- All cryptographic operations still happen on your mobile device
When You Need the Web Companion
1 Initiating Proposals
Use the Web Companion to initiate operations that require team approval:

| Create Teams | Set up new teams with founding members |
| Invite Members | Add new members to existing teams |
| Revoke Members | Remove access from team members |
| Create Identity Providers | Set up SAML2 IdPs for SSO |
| Configure Accounts | Set up service provider accounts (AWS, GCP, etc.) |
2 Other Tasks
The Web Companion is also required for:

| View Audit Logs | Review team activity and proposals |
When You Don't Need It
1 Mobile-Only Operations
You can do the following with just the mobile app:
- Vote on proposals — Approve or reject any operation, including authentication requests
- Join teams — Scan QR codes to join team formation or invitations
- View notifications — See pending requests and updates
Accessing the Web Companion
1 Open in Your Browser
- Open your web browser
- Navigate to companion.splitsecure.com
2 First-Time Setup
If this is your first time using the Web Companion:
- You’ll be directed to the pairing page
- A QR code will be displayed on screen
- You’ll need to scan this with your mobile app to establish trust
